Earnhardt Auto Centers is donating a total of $69,000 to various charities in honor of its founder’s 90th birthday this month and in celebration of the company's more than 69 years in the business.

The funds will be given to six Phoenix-area charitable institutions including the Child Crisis Center ($15,000), St. Mary's Food Bank ($12,000), Boys and Girls Club ($10,000), House of Refuge ($11,000), New Leaf ($10,000) and Mother's Grace ($11,000), according to PR Newswire.

Family and friends mourned the passing of Hal “Tex” Earnhardt in April but ensured that his legacy and the company’s mission to serve its community will continue. The family has requested that donations be made in Tex’s memory to the Chandler Compadres, in lieu of flowers or gifts.

Just recently, Chandler Compadres has also received a $6,100 donation from Earnhardt Auto Centers in partnership with State Forty-Eight. The funds were raised from the sale of 1,100 Tex Earnhardt Memorial shirts.
