New classic car owners were not the only bright, shiny people during the Dealers Auto Auction of Huntsville's Third annual Rocket City Classic Auction Aug. 20. The dealership honored two families by making their wishes come true.
Dealers Auto Auction of Huntsville partnered with American International Automobile Dealers (AIADA) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help bring fulfillment to the dreams of a young girl named Tessa and a 10-year-old boy named Luke Reaves, according to a Facebook posting.
Reaves was originally invited to the car sale to take part in the day's activities and help sell one of the classic cars on the block. Upon arriving, Reaves leared not only would he get to help sell a car, but proceeds were going to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and that his wish was being granted, WHNT reported.
Reaves' wish is for his family to travel to Lowell Observatory in Arizona where stargazing is great due to the lack of light pollution, the station reported.
"We were so honored to be a part of making Luke’s wish come true today!" Dealers Auto Auction said on Facebook. "Thank you to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, DAA of Huntsville, Assett Auctions, AIADA, the ladies auxiliary, the Mcfarland’s of City Auto Sales of Hueytown, the Jone’s, Advanced Auto and Sue Powell. Aside from making Reaves' wish come true, Dealers Auto Auction of Huntsville was also able to raise $30,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the vehicle sale Reaves assisted with, the story said.
Roger Fields, general manager of Dealers Auto Auction, was also recently recognized as Athens, Alabama Businessperson of the Year and received the National Independent Auto Dealers Association’s Crystal Eagle Award and the Biggest Heart Award, as well as being inducted into the Alabama Independent Auto Dealers Hall of Fame.
