At January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, Acura dominated the final hours of twice-around-the-clock contest, with Meyer Shank Racing and defending race winner Wayne Taylor Racing battling to the checkers in a 1-2 finish in their Acura ARX-05 prototypes, according to a press release from Acura.

The win was the second consecutive Rolex 24 victory for Acura and the ARX-05 prototype, and the first 1-2 finish at Daytona for the manufacturer. For the Meyer Shank team, the win is their second Rolex 24 triumph, and 10 years to the weekend after their first Rolex win at the 50th running of the event in 2012.

"We’re really happy with qualifying," Ricky Taylor, professional driver with Wayne Taylor Racing, said, according to the press release. "Coming into today, we weren’t sure what to expect, it’s much hotter today and we’ve been focused on making the car work well when it gets cool tomorrow night, toward the end of the race. To be third, right in the midst of the competition, we’re pretty optimistic about the race. The past couple of years have proven this is a race of attrition. With 52 cars out there, it’s going to be a race of survival. We just need to be in good shape for the final two hours tomorrow night."

Acura leads the IMSA Manufacturer, Driver and Endurance Cup championships following the 1-2 result at the season-opening Rolex 24, according to the press release. Racers Edge Motorsports organization, which will be making its IMSA debut at the 12 Hours with the #93 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 in the GTD PRO category, will join the Acura IMSA lineup for Sebring.

Aboard the Racers Edge Acura, sports car racing veteran Kyle Marcelli and former prototype racer Tom Long will partner with Ashton Harrison-Henry, a GT3 race winner in 2021 and also an HPD Academy graduate. Wayne Taylor Racing will give technical assistance to Racers Edge.
