Chattanooga Auto Square hosted a blood drive on Jan. 21 to assist Blood Assurance in meeting their critical need for blood.

“Currently Blood Assurance is in critical need of O+, O-, and A+ blood donations,” Blood Assurance posted on Facebook.

Team members from INFINITI, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Porsche of Chattanooga helped welcome donors and supported the event that was held closest to the Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships at 2915 Yerbey Drive in Chattanooga.

Those who took time to donate were given a free lunch from Mission BBQ, along with a 50th-anniversary commemorative T-shirt from Blood Assurance.

“The period after the holidays can be challenging for us, and with the current pandemic seeing an uptick in cases, we’re grateful for companies like Auto Square who recognize our needs and step up to help,” Blood Assurance CEO J.B. Gaskins told The Chattanoogan.

Social distancing and wearing of masks were practiced to ensure safety for everyone, as well as frequent sanitizing in between donors.

Anyone wishing to donate blood in the future needs to be at least 17 years old, bring a valid ID, drink additional fluids and eat a healthy meal before donating.
