Porsche is releasing a special edition 911 that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Porsche Design, the German brand's product design studio.

Only 750 units of the Porsche 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design will be sold.

“Black was the color of the very first Porsche Design product, the Chronograph I,” Roland Heiler, managing director and chief designer at Porsche Design, told Slash Gear. “That’s why we’ve chosen it for our limited-edition model. Using platinum as an accent color elevates the black paintwork in the same way chrome details used to.”

The special design is based on the 911Targa 4 GTS, including only black and satin platinum accents, Car and Driver reported. It features a "Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition" badge on the slats of the rear lid grille and a "911" logo is placed on the vehicle’s rear apron.

The studio was founded by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who came up with the 911 concept, and created the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 watch in 1972. Now, 50 years later, Porsche is celebrating its anniversary with a special edition vehicle and watch.

Each unit will cost $197,200 and will come with a special edition watch, the Chronograph 1; that's $39,050 more than a regular Targa 4 GTS. The company hasn't said how many units the U.S. will receive.
