Employees of Larry H. Miller dealerships in various locations in Arizona donated holiday gifts to more than 500 children in foster care.

"We wanted everyone to know, especially around the holiday times, that  everyone is loved, everyone's needed, everyone's important," Robert Smith, the dealership's Greater Phoenix Charity chair, told AZFamily. "The ones that are most vulnerable are our kids, and it's important to us to make sure to give back."

The gifts have a valued of about $50,000, and Smith hopes they bring joy to the children.

"That's the most  important part. It's not being out here being recognized; it's knowing we've done a really good deed," he said, according to AZFamily. "We are very blessed where we are at in life and need to make sure to give back."

Mike Faust, head of Arizona's Department of Child Safety, said the donation of gifts is important for kids in foster care. "This is  just a great way to bring some love and support for them," he told AZFamily.

Faust reminded people that children in foster care need support year-round, not just at holiday time.

"It's  important to give all year," he said, according to AZFamily. "Christmas just highlights the opportunity to spread some joy, some love for these kids, but there's opportunities throughout all year to give back to foster children, who always have a need that the community can step up and fulfill."
