A Michigan car dealership is donating money for a 2,000-square-foot community splash pad.
Maple Hill Auto Group of Kalamazoo, Michigan, has pledged $100,000 for the construction of a splash park in nearby Texas Charter Township.
“It’s important to continually give back to the people and community that has given us so much,” Jim VandenBerg, owner of Maple Hill Auto Group, told MLive. “It’s our customers, employees and community members who make supporting projects like this possible.”
Through the Make a Splash fundraising campaign, Maple Hill’s donation accounts for a quarter of the overall funding needed to reach the fundraising goal of $400,000 to build the splash pad at Texas Drive Park.
According to MLive, Texas Charter Township Superintendent Julie VanderWiere said, “Amenities like this one bring people together and build community. The splash pad will be another public gathering spot where many of the young families residing in the Township can connect."
The splash pad is estimated to be 2,000 square feet with 15- to 20-foot water spray features.
