Nissan has revealed its ambitious electric vehicle (EV) plans to accomplish by 2030.

"Nissan is one of the pioneers of EVs, a fact backed up by the tremendous success of the Leaf," CarBuzz writes. "But it's now time for the brand to expand its EV offerings."

Nissan is looking at introducing 23 EVs in less than 10 years. Fifteen of those vehicles, expected to be launched by 2030, will be fully electric.

"With Nissan Ambition 2030, we will drive the new age of electrification, advance technologies to reduce [our] carbon footprint and pursue new business opportunities," Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida told CarBuzz.  "We want to transform Nissan to become a sustainable company that is truly needed by customers and society."

The company is shooting to have 50% electrification by 2030, CarBuzz reported.

To help bring Nissan further into the EV market, the company is investing $17 billion over the next five years, including investment into solid-state batteries, according to Electrek. Its proprietary all-solid-state battery is projected to be launched by 2028 with the pilot plant ready in Yokohama by 2024.
