Dodge is planning to end the production of its Hellcat engine in 2023, which is sad news for diehard muscle car fans.

By 2024, Hellcat will no longer be produced and will be replaced by eMuscle, an electric muscle car.

"I will have this car, this platform, this power train as we know it through the end of '23,” Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis told Motor Authority. “There's two more years to buy a Hellcat and then it's history."

Dodge is planning to release eMuscle in about two years, after the production of Hellcat has ceased, Car and Driver reported. The concept version will be revealed during the first few months of 2022.

The 6.2-liter V-8 engine power train Hellcat reaches anywhere from 702 to 840 horsepower in vehicles such as the Doge Challenger or Dodge Charger SRT.

Dodge also has plans to create a brand-new plug-in hybrid that will differ from existing models, aiming to be unique among electric vehicles.
