With the announcement of the Eluminator electric crate motor, aficionados were quite impressed and couldn't wait to get their hands on it.

The result is that Ford's Eluminator crate motors are already sold out, and if you want one now, you'll have to wait for the second batch.

"Demand has exceeded expectations. We're currently out of stock, and interested customers can sign up to be notified when they are available again to order," a Ford Authority spokesperson told Road Show by CNET.

The Eluminator is sold at $3,900. According to Mark Wilson, North American director of Ford Accessories, the automaker will continue the manufacturing process until it can meet the demands of the market.

Ford released the Eluminator electric crate motor earlier this month, which only includes the 281 horsepower electric motor and a few key harnesses.

The Eluminator is an electric motor that could be used to help convert an existing gas-powered vehicle to an electric vehicle.
