A U.S. Army veteran received a free car from U.S. Bank in partnership with Operation Homefront at a Connecticut dealership.

Shawn Wynter was given a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica at SCAP Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Fairfield, Connecticut.

“Shawn deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012 and spent seven months providing technical support to an infantry platoon,” according to reporting by Fairfield Citizen.

Wynter moved from Jamaica to the U.S. in 2007 and joined the Army in 2011 to show gratitude for the country he now called home, and he served for five years working as a utilities equipment technician.

The veteran is a single father of five daughters and received an honorable discharge with medical retirement and 100% disability. He said receiving the $40,000 Chrysler is "beautiful." Wynter will also be receiving a three-year or 30,000-mile warranty from the dealership.

"I needed a reliable vehicle. This truly means a lot to me,” Wynter said, according to Fairfield Citizen.

Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit seeking to build strong and secure military families. They partnered with U.S. Bancorp through their Driven to Serve Program to give Wynter his new vehicle.
