Local car enthusiasts in the Tri-Cities, Tennessee, area are working  together to host a car show, sponsored by Friendship Automotive, to benefit a local teen in need of a kidney transplant.

The event is for the benefit of Jacob Hill, a 19-year-old who has been undergoing dialysis since he was 13, in hopes of raising enough for the transplant surgery and related costs.

“We are welcoming all fellow car/truck/bike enthusiasts out to a car/truck/bike show on (Saturday) Oct. 16 from 12 to 6 p.m.,” the event coordinators stated on Facebook. “Friendship Ford is allowing us to use the old Ford location off of the Volunteer Parkway in Bristol. All proceeds will be going towards Jacob’s new kidneys!”

The event is called Jacob’s Cars for Kidneys and will feature various car contests, viewing of unique cars, prizes and food.

Hill was diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (formerly called Wegener's granulomatosis). It is a rare condition that attacks and deteriorates blood vessels in various parts of the body, including the kidneys. Hill has been using a peritoneal dialysis machine nine hours per day for six years and has recently been given the go-ahead for a transplant, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser.
