BMW is making changes to improve its software in over 2.5 million cars.

By the end of the year, the BMW Group is slated to have its millions of units to be fully connected BMW vehicles, including its conventionally powered cars, plug-in hybrids and fully electric units.

“The BMW Group is offering its third over-the-air upgrade this year,” BMW stated on its website. "This comprehensive Remote Software Upgrade campaign will focus on expanding and improving driver assistance functions.”

BMW is continuing to improve its existing iDrive 7 infotainment system with the most recent software updates, CarBuzz reported.

This newest software update expands upon and enhances various driver assists and has already kicked off in Germany. The rest of the global market can soon experience these advancements. However, the updates can't be installed on vehicles with software older than version 20-07, until the intermediate version has been downloaded and installed.

The update includes providing a unique sound experience for BMW M3 and BMW M4 drivers with the new BMW M Sound Control, improved Real-Time Traffic Information, better navigation accuracy, Lane Departure Warnings, new Assisted View, and updates in BMW Connected Music (Spotify podcast playlists are now available). These features are available for over 30 BMW models.
