General Motors recently announced that its electric vehicle business, BrightDrop, is planning to introduce a second electric van in 2023.

“The world is changing,” BrightDrop CEO Travis Katz, told CNBC. “The automotive industry is changing. We need to be able to iterate more quickly. A lot of what we’re doing is really pushing the envelope of how can we bring vehicles to market faster.”

The electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV) will be a mid-size commercial van, EV410, that has an estimated range of 250 miles on a full charge. It is designed to accommodate more frequent smaller trips such as online grocery deliveries, according to MotorTrend.

GM is currently ensuring that its assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, is equipped and complete for production of its EV600 large van as well as the EV410. The second commercial EV van has some of the features of EV600 including its look but under 20’ in length, with just over” wheelbase, more than 400 cubic feet of storage, and fits into a standard-size parking space. According to BrightDrop, it intends to start EV410 production in 2023 at GM’s CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll.

Verizon is slated to be the first customer to purchase and add the EV410 to their fleet, MotorTrend reported.
