Percy Auto Sales, a Maine dealership, is helping the Aroostook Agency on Aging acquire a new van.

The dealership provided in-kind donations and monetary aid to the Nutrition Services of Aroostook to keep its Meals on Wheels program running.

“It is Percy’s absolute pleasure to support the Aroostook Agency on Aging Meals on Wheels program,” Ryan Rackliffe, general manager of the Presque Isle dealership, told Fiddlehead Focus. “Nutrition services are crucial, and our county is fortunate to have this program for our homebound folks, helping them continue to live independently. We are thrilled and honored to be a part of the Meals on Wheels program.”

The donation from Percy Auto Sales is one of two businesses offering support to help Meals on Wheels replace the older of two service vans that are used each week to deliver meals. The new cargo van will be a big assistance to the Meals on Wheels America program and other related food and essential supply deliveries in northern Maine. Daigle Oil Company, located in Fort Kent, Maine, will donate gas for the next year for the two cargo vans.

Meals on Wheels by the Aroostook Agency on Aging provides food deliveries to the homes of senior citizens in the area.

The Aroostook Agency supplies meals to over 275 customers, two senior dining centers, and nine USDA Commodity Supplemental Food distribution sites, so reliable transportation is critical, according to Fiddlehead Focus.
