After a close call with COVID-19, Alabama auto dealer Shawn Esfahani is giving away $100,000 in vaccine incentives.

He offered a program that will run a 10-week sweepstakes offering $1,000 to 10 individuals from Mobile and Baldwin County each week who are vaccinated.

“This initiative is really to help our community and accelerate a percentage of low vaccinations into a high one,” SEAM Auto Group owner Shawn Esfahani said in an AL article. “My goal is at least 1,000 people getting vaccinated. It’s a small lift but a good enough lift. By the math alone, we will have saved 20 people’s lives. That is good enough for us to be a part of this.”

According to the article, Shawn Esfahani almost died due to COVID-19, which is what sparked his desire to begin his COVID-19 vaccine incentive program.

The incentive program is being run from his own car dealership, SEAM Automotive Group, in Daphne and is funded privately. Esfahani said that he would encourage his employees to get vaccinated.

Ten people who have been vaccinated after the incentive program was announced on July 29 have each won $1,000. The program will run every Monday until Oct. 7
