Van Horn Automotive Group, headquartered in Plymouth, Wisconsin, announced in March an extensive sponsorship program with Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline.

True to their commitment, the automotive dealership group raised $5,000 for the charity through its “Empower People” program and a Memorial Day vehicle test-drive campaign. For their efforts, Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline named Van Horn their Corporate Partner of the Year.

Teresa Van Horn, Co-CEO of Van Horn Automotive Group, told Mega Dealer News, “We are honored to be named Corporate Partner of the Year. We have been involved with them (Big Brothers Big Sisters) for years, as we feel they match up with our mission and core values of giving back to our communities. Additionally, they serve many of the communities we serve throughout Wisconsin and Iowa.”

“They are a fabulous organization that helps kids get the guidance, support, friendship and helping hands they need to help them stay on a strong path. We have been in business for 55 years, and we are indebted to our communities for their support over that time. We try to spread the idea of community focus to our employees and to the charities we partner with who support the communities that have supported us,” she added.

Van Horn raised the money through a vehicle test-drive campaign they promoted on radio and social media venues.

“We allotted an internal figure for each test drive and then rounded up to come up with the $5,000 figure. It was fun for our employees and for our customers and in the end, the children will benefit,” Van Horn said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline recognized Van Horn Automotive Group as their Corporate Partner of the Year during their annual picnic on June 22. The event took place at Camp Sinawa in Valders, Wisconsin, and was a celebration of organization family members and staff. The program included presentation of scholarships for two high school graduates, and Van Horn concluded the night by accepting their Corporate Partner award, as well as presenting a $5,000 donation from their Memorial Day Test Drive Event.

Van Horn Automotive Group was founded in 1966 and has earned a reputation as Wisconsin’s premier family-owned and -operated auto group. They currently have 18 locations throughout Wisconsin and Iowa, carrying such leading automotive brands as Kia, Chevrolet, Ford, Mazda, Hyundai, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Nissan, Volkswagen and Alfa Romeo.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS) has been in existence since 1904, operating under the belief that inherent in every child is potential. BBBS helps children realize their potential and build their futures through evidence-based mentoring programs that match concerned volunteer mentors with children who need additional support and guidance.

Through the careful pairing of adult with child, BBBS can combine the abilities and desires of the mentor with the needs of the child to produce safe, goal-oriented friendships. Agency professionals work with each relationship to ensure the gentle and consistent interaction leads to more self-assured and self-reliant young people.
