Toyota Motor North America unveils enhanced infotainment system

Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) answers the growing demand for a more interactive in-car user experience with its newest multimedia solution, Toyota announced in a release.

“With the new multimedia system, we focused on the needs and wants of the customer and what would enable a more seamless and enjoyable experience on the road,” Charan Lota, executive chief engineer and vice president at TMNA Connected Technologies, said in the release. “We brought multiple groups from electrical engineering to software development and business planning together into one team with one common goal – enhancing the in-vehicle experience.”

According to Toyota, its newest multimedia system brings five-times the processing power of the previous system. Enhanced technologies include a Human Machine Interface (HMI) and multiple touchscreen options that all feature the same design with a volume knob,

With consumers taking into consideration the best in-vehicle infotainment experience they can find when selecting their cars, Toyota’s Human Machine Interface provides vehicle occupants opportunities to enjoy during their ride, convenience, and solutions to their accessibility needs, the release said.

The HMI uses a graphical user interface (GUI), a voice interface, and unique North American animation to recognize user’s sight, touch, and voice to interact with the different multimedia functions including sliding menus and dropdown banners.
