Music lovers and car lovers could have both of these in one place if Apple succeeds at building its own car; 23%  of car shoppers say they must have CarPlay in their vehicle.

A decade ago, it was just wishful thinking to have cutting-edge features for car dashboards more than what was back then a modern sound system — a CD player and stylish LED screen -- until Apple unveiled CarPlay in 2014. This year, Apple is expected to provide updates to its CarPlay software at its annual developer’s conference on Monday, June 7.

“What’s in your car, when you plug it in, there is essentially a client software client that is just rendering stuff from your phone on your infotainment system display,” Mark Fitzgerald, analyst at Strategy Analytics, told CNBC.

CNBC reported that Apple may have been studying to build its own car, and media reports as far as 2014 said that it is looking at the possibility of building software for a self-driving electric vehicle.

According to Apple, more than 80% of new vehicles sold support CarPlay, and it’s a must-have for many car enthusiasts.

A 2018 survey by Strategy Analytics revealed that most people choose CarPlay over its vehicle’s built-in system.
