Lakeland, Florida, will soon be home to three new car dealerships, one of which successfully opened May 26.

Maya Lora of The Ledger reported that Lakeland will have these three stores completed in Lakeland before the end of June. Construction of the facilities for CarMax (7,590 square feet), Jaguar Land Rover (29,000 square feet) and Mazda (24,000 square feet) that is moving from 1250 W. Memorial Blvd. to South Lakeland, started in 2020, despite the pandemic.

"I think right when the pandemic started, like most retailers, things were challenging," CarMax Regional Vice President Joe Holder told The Ledger. "But it's been absolutely on fire since probably six or seven months ago now."

New and existing Mazda customers will be welcomed to its new site at 4317 U.S. Highway 98 South, possibly at the end of June. Two of the three soon-to-arrive dealerships are new to the area. These two businesses will tap into a thriving market for the auto industry.

CarMax is making its Polk County debut with a new store at 3223 U.S. Highway 98 North; it has been open since May 26.

Opening next month is the new Jaguar Land Rover dealership at 2550 Interstate Drive. Co-owner Robert Elder said Jaguar Land Rover chose Lakeland for its proximity to Tampa.
