Santa Monica-based online car-shopping company Edmunds was named one of the country’s Best Workplaces for 2021 by Inc. Magazine.

Edmunds was one of the 429 businesses in America recognized by the publication for its remarkable company culture and generous employee benefits.

"At Edmunds, our employee-first culture is central to our identity as a company, which we believe is critical to our success,” Edmunds CEO Avi Steinlauf said, according to Edmunds.com. “This award is a testament to Edmunds' unrelenting commitment to creating a work environment that fosters collaboration, innovation and employee well-being — which has grown even more essential as our employees work remotely during the pandemic."

The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the workplace in a snap, but Edmunds is proud to have been able to adapt to the change. It launched “Wind Down Wednesdays,” which are mental wellness sessions that promote creative thinking, but more importantly build connections virtually. Employees are encouraged to participate in various remote activities, such as games or cooking demonstrations as a break from their work. This is on top of the company’s time-off policy, which in fact has no set limits.

Edmunds and all nominated companies took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace. The poll included questions on management effectiveness, perks and fostering employee growth. The benefits provided by the companies were also audited to determine their overall score and ranking. Edmunds was among the three companies named as the best places to work in the media category, Inc.com says.

The May/June 2021 issue of Inc. Magazine, featuring the 429 best workplaces in America, will hit newsstands on Tuesday.
