Karma Automotive joined The Climate Pledge in an effort to become "net carbon neutral" by 2040.

The Southern California-based company intends to join forces with other Climate Pledge signatories in protecting the environment and investing in green technology studies in the automotive space.

"We would like the community to work towards action and to use this platform for true change and show a true commitment to the environment," Dr. Lance Zhou, Karma Automotive CEO, told Cision PR Newswire. "We would like The Climate Pledge to continuously challenge those in the community to meet and exceed their goals."

Karma ensures that its production facility, supply chain partners and product lineup will be true to its commitment.

Climate Pledge signatories agree to regular reporting, carbon elimination in line with the Paris Agreement and credible offsets. The Climate Pledge urges companies and organizations to reach net-zero carbon throughout their properties within the next 20 years.

Established in 2014, Karma Automotive, a producer of luxury electric vehicles, is headquartered in Irvine and has an assembly plant located in Moreno Valley. The company sells vehicles through its dealer network, which includes 36 sites in North America, Europe, South America and the Middle East.
