Business has never been more fulfilling for Carter Myers Automotive president and CEO Liza Borches, recently named the 2020 Business Leader of the Year by the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce.

In a year where everything has been made different by the COVID-19 pandemic, Borches and staffers have managed to remain focused on community, creating a new community headline and jumpstarting a service where workers used their vehicles to perform such services as picking up groceries and medications for individuals in need. Team members also assisted with Meals on Wheels deliveries and volunteered with the PB&J Fund to distribute Friday night meals to area families.

All the while, the dealerships, deemed essential businesses by government guidelines, have remained open for business in further serving the community.

“Receiving this award has been awesome,” Borches told Mega Dealer News. “Really, what I did this year was listen to our employees and associates, understanding from them what was needed for the community. Our associates did everything we set out do and I couldn’t be more proud of the job we’ve been able to do.”

She said she wants to thank all businesses and the small business community for what they've done to make it through this year.

“We’ve all learned to lean on each other and that’s the way it should be," Borches said.

As for Carter Myers Automotive being singled out among all others, Borches said it all very much comes as a huge surprise.

“It’s one of our proudest moments because it’s recognition not just from the regular industry but from the entire business community as a whole and it’s coming for work we’re doing in a community where my family lives and my children go to school,” she said.
