General Motors appoints new executive vice president, CFO

General Motors has named Paul Jacobson as the company’s new executive vice president and chief financial officer effective Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Jacobson will be reporting to GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. He was a former CFO of Delta Air Lines, Inc, according to PR Newswire.

"Paul is a great addition to the GM senior leadership team and is dedicated to leading the company for the benefit of all stakeholders – customers, employees, suppliers, communities and shareholders," Barra said. "We share a commitment to teamwork and inclusion as we work toward our vision of a future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion while delivering a best-in-class customer experience, operational and financial excellence, and disciplined capital allocation."

Jacobson, who understands the company’s vision, looks forward to joining GM and help execute plans.   

John Stapleton, who was appointed as an acting global chief financial officer since Aug. 31 following the resignation of GM’s former executive vice president and CFO Dhivya Suryadevara, will continue as North America chief financial officer.
