Euisun Chung has been formally inaugurated as chairman of Hyundai Motor Group.

Under Chung’s direction, Hyundai Motor Group, which includes Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors Corp. and Hyundai Mobis Co., is expected to continue to embrace its 'Together for a Better Future' path, where much of the focus is centered on developing and acquiring technologies and capabilities aimed at addressing market unpredictability, including that spurred by the lingering COVID-19 crisis.

Through it all, Chung stressed the company plans to stay true to its committed focus on “customers, humanity, future and social contribution," according to PR Newswire.

"All of our goals and efforts must be customer-centric. The first step to customer happiness is to enable them to focus on their own lives through perfect quality of our products and services. Hyundai Motor Group aims to become a company cherished for realizing humanity's dream of safe and free movement and a peaceful life, as well as sharing its fruits with customers around the world," Chung said.

Chairman Mong-Koo Chung was inaugurated to the position of honorary chairman.

It’s all a part of a plan to transform the company from being just an automaker and into the world of being a mobility solution provider, offering mobility solutions tailored to customer lifestyles while growing its market share in other areas.

"Our world-class hydrogen fuel cell technology will be used not only in automobiles, but also in various fields, as an eco-friendly energy solution for the future of humanity," Chung added. "We will also realize the future of our imagination through Robotics, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), Smart City and other innovations. These groundbreaking advancements will offer a higher plane of life experiences for humanity."

In his new role, Chung replaces Mong-Koo Chung, who has assumed the position of honorary chairman.
