Subaru of America posted a 16% sales increase in September this year compared to the same month last year, selling 60,103 units this year, Subaru’s first month of being able to sell more than 60,000 since December 2019.
Outback outperformed the rest of the carline with 17,023 units sold, a 50.9% sales growth compared with September 2019, its best-ever September.
"For the first time since February, we achieved a 'best-ever monthly result' in September," said Jeff Walters, senior vice president of sales. "The all-new Outback led the way for our award-winning vehicle lineup, and our exceptional retailer network benefited from improved inventory availability."
Despite setting an all-time record of September sales, the year-to-date figure of 436,560 vehicles sold is a 17% drop from 525,329 units sold in the same period last year, according to PR Newswire.
Thomas J. Doll, president and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. acknowledges that this has been a challenging year but September’s strong performance gives him hope and eagerness to see a successful fourth quarter.
