Subaru of America reported August as the best month of 2020 despite a 17% dip in sales compared to last year’s record sales for the same month as it has only sold 57,885 vehicles against 70,039 units in August 2019.

August 2020 also showed a 21% drop on its year-to-date sales with only 376,457 units sold compared to the same period last year with 473,670 total vehicles sold.

While year-to-date and month-to-date comparisons reflect a decrease in sales, August 2020 recorded sales of more than 50,000 units for the fourth time in a row, according to PR Newswire.

Forester, as noted by Jeff Walters, senior vice president of sales, has once again validated its strong performance landing the top spot in the carline by volume and with a 1% sales growth in August this year compared to the same month last year. Walters also expects an improvement in the next coming months with the arrival of their 2021 models at their dealerships.

"Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our retailer network, we are able to count August as the best sales month of 2020," Thomas J. Doll, president and CEO of Subaru of America, Inc, said. "Our retailers are continuing to sell at very high levels of sales efficiency given their on-ground inventory levels while at the same time providing a Love Promise customer experience. We are grateful for their outstanding efforts."
