Toyota Motor North America undergoes leadership restructuring

Toyota Motor North America will be undergoing several organizational changes, according to PR Newswire.

One of the earliest restructurings will happen Monday, Aug. 3, in which Luis Lozano, external affairs senior director, general counsel and compliance, Toyota Motor Sales de México (TMEX) will be assigned as president of Toyota de Mexico (TdM).

He will be replacing Mike Bafan, current president of TdM but the latter remains chairman of Toyota Manufacturing de Baja California (TMMBC) and Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Guanajuato (TMMGT) and group vice president, Manufacturing Project Innovation Center (MPIC), TMNA, based in Plano, Texas.

Sean Suggs, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi (TMMMS), will become group vice president, chief social innovation officer, TMNA on Tuesday, Sept. 1. He is replacing Albert (Al) Smith, Jr., group vice president, chief social innovation officer, TMNA, but Suggs will keep his current role until further notice.

Smith is retiring after 30 years with Toyota.

Jun Umemura, group vice president of Mexico Affairs, TMNA, will be also retiring, after serving the company for over 50 years.
