Hyundai's 2020 Palisade and 2020 Sonata earned 2019 Good Design Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, a ninth straight year of recognition for the automaker.

It is also the third time the Sonata has received the honor. The 2020 Sonata demonstrates Hyundai’s new attention to creating emotional value with proportion, styling and technology.

The 2020 Palisade is Hyundai’s flagship SUV, representing outstanding technology, comfort and safety in a midsize SUV.

The Chicago Athenaeum's Good Design program focuses on excellent-quality design, function and aesthetics.

"The 2020 Sonata and Palisade are the first sedan and SUV, respectively, to adopt Hyundai's new customer-centered design philosophy, sensuous sportiness," Head of Hyundai Design Center SangYup Lee said in a press release. "We are honored to be recognized for their design excellence with this prestigious award. Evolution in Hyundai design will be more clearly revealed through our upcoming cars and we will remain focused on developing our customer-centered design philosophy, rather than designing from a manufacturer perspective."
