America’s Car-Mart, Inc. recently announced its acquisition of Taylor Motor Company and Auto Credit of Southern Illinois, together known as Taylor Motors.
The acquisition allows America’s Car-Mart to open three used car dealerships in Marion, Benton and Mount Vernon, Illinois, in addition to a vehicle-reconditioning center in Benton. According to a press release, the transaction is expected to close in January 2020.
America’s Car-Mart CEO Jeff Williams described how the acquisition will make no changes to Taylor Motors in terms of business structure or customer relations.
“[General Manager] Steve Taylor has run a very successful business there for 25 years and we have no plans to change the good work they are doing at Taylor Motors,” Williams told Mega Dealer News. “We’re going to let the Taylor Motors folks run the business like they have for 25 years, and we would expect nothing but continuous, solid customer experiences from those dealerships.”
Taylor Motors has been serving Illinois customers for the past 88 years, with Steve Taylor being the third-generation family member to run the business. Having already owned several dealerships in surrounding border states Kentucky, Missouri and Indiana, as well as in eight other states, Williams considers the recent acquisition a “good fill-in spot for [America’s Car-Mart] geographically.”
"Like Car-Mart, Steve and his team focus on keeping customers on the road by selling good, solid mechanically sound vehicles and taking care of customers after the sale,” Williams said in the press release. “Steve and his team will be joining our team and Steve will be contributing to our expansion efforts into the future.”
America's Car-Mart is one of the largest automotive retailers in the U.S. that specializes in collecting, revamping and distributing used vehicles. The company, which has sold more than 650,000 used vehicles since fiscal year 2000, has been listed on Forbes' America's Best Mid-Size Employers for two consecutive years.
