Ford, Chevy top holiday wish lists, ValuePenguin reports

Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Honda and Nissan are the most likely preferred auto brands car shoppers will go for this holiday season, according to a study conducted by ValuePenguin.com.

Ford is projected to be the most sold brand in the busiest car sales month of the year. It was noted that Ford had 222,534 average number of vehicles sold in December in the most recent three-year period. The F-Series truck was Ford’s most top-selling model.   

Chevrolet comes in second with 202,852 vehicles sold on average during the last four Decembers. The Silverado was its top-selling model.

Toyota ranked third and is the biggest foreign brand for December sales, averaging 191,602 vehicles over the past several Decembers. RAV4 is Toyota’s highest-selling model.

Honda places fourth with an average of 137,499 units sold per December, led by the Honda CR-V compact SUV. Completing the five brands is Nissan with an average of 127,814 sales in December over the past four years. Nissan Rogue is the manufacturer's top-selling model.

ValuePenguin.com studied U.S. vehicle sales data from 2015 to 2018, covering 29 auto and light-truck makes. The choice of brands was limited to 29 with those who had at least 50,000 units sold in the U.S in calendar year 2018. 

Tesla was one of the 29 brands, but its data was excluded from the analysis due to its fast sales increase in recent years.
