Freedom Honda will be donating $100 to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado for each new or pre-owned vehicle purchased or leased at the dealership through Oct. 31, without any additional costs to the customers.
“Children's Colorado has an excellent reputation," Bret Petersen, owner of Freedom Honda, said in a press release. "So, the fact that they have a dedicated pediatric mental health facility tells me they're going to make a difference, and we want to be a part of that."
One in every five children experiences mental illness. Unfortunately, at present, there are not ample resources to meet the state’s needs. Suicide is the leading cause of death in children ages 10-14 and over the past three years, the suicide rate in Colorado increased by 58 percent.
"We have a crisis in the state of Colorado around suicide," Dr. Jason Williams, Psy. D, MSEd – Director of Operations, Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children's Colorado, said in the press release. "A lot of our kids are in need of mental health care and aren't able to receive that care."
