2019 Tucson recognized as top pick by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

The 2019 Hyundai Tucson has been selected as by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as one of the best in safety.

The award was given to the Tucson in the small SUV category for its optional front crash prevention and LED headlights.

“We take safety very seriously at Hyundai. We are proud to hear that Tucson received an upgraded accolade from IIHS,” said Scott Margason, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor America. “Hyundai continues to prioritize making advanced safety features available and standard.”

The 2019 criteria to be chosen as a Top Safety Pick+ vehicle are good headlight rating, good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, and advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.

Other 2019 Hyundai models that were recognized as Top Safety Pick+ in their respective size categories were the Kona, Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe.
