Alibaba AI Labs partners with auto brands to fuel smart mobility initiative in China

Alibaba A.I. Labs has partnered with Audi, Renault and Honda to deliver an intelligent in-car experience to its owners using a wide range of voice-controlled information and services by integrating Tmall Genie Auto into the automaker’s specific-model vehicles.

“By providing A.I. technologies, including speech-recognition and Natural Language Processing, Tmall Genie Auto enables car users to access an extensive in-car infotainment portfolio by tapping into Alibaba’s rich content and service ecosystem,” said Miffy Chen, general manager at Alibaba A.I. Labs. “We are thrilled to partner with global distinguished auto brands such as Audi, Renault, and Honda. Together, we can greatly enhance our in-car services and make driving experience more intelligent and interconnected.”

Car users will have access to different voice-controlled data and services which includes ordering items on Alibaba’s retail platform, checking the status of package deliveries, finding nearby restaurants, and even monitoring and controlling smart-home devices.

“We aim to extend in-car voice assistant services according to the demands and needs of our Chinese customers,” said H.W. Vassen, Senior Director of Digitalization and NEV Development at Audi China. To reach its goal, Audi aims to intensify its collaboration with Alibaba Tmall Genie.

According to Guillaume SICARD, vice president of sales and marketing for China at Groupe Renault, by having Renault City K-ZE Tmall Genie Edition, consumers will be given the opportunity “to experience a deeper connection between scenarios in their lives at home and their lives on the go”

Hasegawa Yusuke, the executive vice president of Honda Motor China Investment, said he was looking forward to working with Alibaba A.I. Labs as Honda acknowledges that the mobility industry is experiencing a big shift.
