Valeo and Sensum envision an empathetic car that would interact with its occupants in accordance with the human’s physiological and emotional profile.

A demonstration of a vehicle cabin having this smart feature was presented during the Viva Technology conference in Paris held this month.

The cabin uses Sensum’s technology to make the interaction happen. Sensum’s “empathic AI” processes data from sensors to identify changes in the human’s body functions to enable the cabin to respond automatically and adjust sounds, lights, fragrances, and thermal sensations. The car addresses the safety of its occupants by monitoring and understanding people’s fatigue and distraction levels. Likewise, incorporating the system to vehicles provides an opportunity to widen safety precautionary measures when it is able to detect the driver’s potentially dangerous condition such as being tired, intoxicated, stressed, distracted or frustrated.

Valeo is a global automotive supplier which operates in 33 countries focused on designing innovative systems.

Sensum, a technology company providing various products and solutions, has also worked with brands such as Ford and Cisco.
