Porshe to test subscription-based on-demand service in Atlanta

Porsche is rolling out a pilot subscription-service program that gives drivers access to a Porsche on demand, an article on the Bloomberg website said.

The app-base pilot program, called Porsche Passport, starts out at $2,000 per month. In initial program, available to only 50 drivers in Atlanta, subscribers can access a 718 Boxster, Cayman S, Macan S or Cayenne whenever they want for $2,000 per month, the posting said. For an additional $1,000, drivers have access to 22 different Porsche models. The subscription covers insurance and maintenance fees, the article said, and rivers can try as many different vehicles as they'd like per month.

Porsche hopes to reach younger consumers that have access to plenty of cash but that may not want to own a Porsche outright, the article said.

Porsche is teaming up with Atlanta-based startup Clutch Technologies LLC to help roll out the passport program and predict which models will be most in demand, the article said. Two area Porsche dealerships will maintain the vehicles used in the subscription program.
