Mercedes-Benz joins top automakers to show off new concepts in Germany

Mercedes-Benz plans to show off its new AMG Project One two-seat car at the Frankfurt Motor Show, according to an article in Bloomberg.

The AMG Project One offers more than 1,000 horsepower and can top 217 miles per hour, competing with cars such as the McLaren P1, the article said.

Mercedes is also showing off its new Mercedes EQ electric hatchback concept car, an X-Class pickup truck, a G-Class off-road  vehicle and even a van at the show in Germany.

BMW is also showing off a new line of vehicles at the auto show, such as its concept Z4, a powerful M8 GTE and concept 8 series i3s. It is also updating a number of other vehicles in its lineage such as the 6 Series Gran Turismo and the X3.

Electric concept vehicles and updates are a big part of the auto show, but not everything this year is electric. Ferrari is offering a Portofino two-seat coupe, full of chiseled angles.

“This is an incredibly emotional, spectacularly gorgeous car,” Rebecca Lindland, executive analyst for Kelley Blue Book, said in the release. “And with more and more women, especially in China, buying cars like this, it’s the natural evolution of exotics.”
