VW offering transferable warranty on 2018 Atlas, Tiguan

Volkswagen will offer what it calls the best transferable bumper-to-bumper SUV warranty in the country when the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and Tiguan hit the market in the next few months,  Ancira Volkswagen said on its website.

The limited warranty is for six years or 72,000 miles, whichever comes first, and is transferable to another owner should the original owner ever sell the vehicle.

“We specifically designed and built the all-new Atlas and Tiguan for American customers. This warranty further addresses the needs of American buyers head-on,” Hinrich Woebcken, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, said in the posting. “We’re confident in the reliability and workmanship of these SUVs, and we want our customers to be confident in their purchase. We believe this warranty will lead to reduced cost of ownership for Volkswagen owners.”

The warranty for these two SUVs includes power-train coverage for engines, transmissions and an optional all-wheel-drive system. As a comparison, other SUV manufacturers typically offer a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile power-train warranty, the posting said.

A new Volkswagen SUV warranty transferred to another owner will still cover the original six years or 72,000 miles.
