West Herr names its 5 safest SUVs, crossovers

West Herr Auto Group posted a list of the safest 2017 crossover vehicles and SUVs, based on information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) on its website.

The Toyota RAV4 offers many standard safety features and fares well in crash tests. The more expensive Limited and Platinum editions earned the top IIHS rating due to stronger LED headlights.

The Toyota Highlander achieved top safety scores even for its most basic model. The LE version has a few extra safety features, such forward collision warning.

The Subaru Forester is an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Optional ËyeSight features include a forward-collision warning and lane-departure alert.

The Honda Pilot offers plenty of room and seating, making it an ideal family vehicle. For the highest safety ratings, the Elite trim model offers top-rated LED headlights.

The Buick Envision, a compact luxury crossover vehicle, offers impressive brake performance for sudden stops. The Premium II version offers a handful of active safety features as well.
