The Volkswagen Golf has been named Best Small Car in the 2017 New York Daily News Autos Awards.
Eight automotive journalists ranked a number of 2017 models in 16 categories. Every car model judged has a base price less than $100,000 and is available for consumers to purchase, according to a press release by Ancira Volkswagen.
“We are delighted that the Daily News has chosen the Golf as its Best Small Car for 2017,” Hendrik Muth, senior vice president of product marketing and strategy for Volkswagen of America Inc, said in the release. “The Golf is an incredible combination of performance, style and technology, with a fun-to-drive nature that is decisively Volkswagen.”
Christian Wardlaw, editor of New York Daily News Autos, also praised the car.
“No other small car touches the depth and breadth of purpose found within the Golf family,” Wardlaw said in the release. “That it is fun to drive even in its most basic format and supplies all kinds of utility simply serves to cement the Golf’s superiority.”
