Nissan board chairman shedding CEO duties

Shults Auto Group said it is sorry to see Carlos Ghosn leave as CEO of Nissan in a posting on its website.

Ghosn is leaving as CEO but will continue working with the company as its board chairman, a recent release on the Shults Auto Group website said.

Ghosn has led Nissan for the past 16 years. Before taking on that position, he was the executive vice president at Renault and formed an alliance with Nissan.

His leadership helped make Nissan's vehicles more appealing to customers, according to the Shults post.

Ghosn took over the leadership position at Mitsubishi in December and the brand is already seeing the effects of his help.

“As Nissan’s chairman, I will continue to supervise and guide the company, both independently and within Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi,” Ghosn said in the posting.
