Check engine light could be a sign to see mechanic

The check engine light on your vehicle could mean something is awry, and that light could come on for several different types of issues.

Oregon-based Lithia Motors Inc. listed several common reasons why the check engine light could illuminate in a recent posting on its website.

The car may have a loose gas cap, the oxygen or mass airflow sensor may have an issue, the catalytic converter needs attention or the spark plugs may need changed, the posting said.

All of the above are common issues treated by automotive technicians, but many other issues could also be present.

You should visit the dealer or an auto repair shop when the light comes on because a professional can diagnose the issue, the Lithia post said.
