Jim Ellis Automotive Group in Georgia is celebrating its golden anniversary.

The dealership plans to add another milestone to its five-decade success as it intends to create a larger new Volkswagen dealership and car museum in Chamblee.

"As we celebrate this milestone, we sincerely thank our thousands of loyal customers who have helped us grow,” Jimmy Ellis, president of Jim Ellis Automotive Group, told Cision PRWeb. “A half-century can bring about many changes; however, one thing remains the same — our values and commitment to those we serve. We look forward to the next 50 years of memories."

The auto group’s journey started when Jim Ellis and his wife Billie took the plunge, opening Jim Ellis Volkswagen in 1971. They sold some of their assets, spent all of their savings, including Billie's retirement fund, and had to borrow the remaining amount needed to start the company.

Fast-forward to today, the husband and wife have now stepped down from their active roles and have entrusted the business to three generations of their family, which includes their son, Jimmy Ellis (president and CEO), and daughters, Karen Ellis-Black and Kristi Ellis-Cohron (both corporate officers). From the beginning, the family-owned business has never ceased to fulfill the Jim Ellis promise: striving to treat every customer like they are family.

Included in the company’s vision of working towards another 50 years is the development of a new facility on 2.7 acres of its 10.7-acre property in Chamblee at 5855 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, next to the Jim Ellis VW building, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.
