General Manager of Defouw Chevrolet Grant Gernhardt and his family recently donated 10 tablets to Franciscan Health Lafayette East to help COVID-19 patients connect with the people they love in these difficult times.
The donation was very timely since the Franciscan Health team has been finding ways for COVID-19 patients to connect with the people close to their hearts despite the restrictions needed to avoid the spread of the virus. Additionally, this will also help other patients give a sense of their loved ones’ presence during this unprecedented situation.
"I hope it'll be able to give them peace and connection with their loved ones," said Gernhardt during an interview. "A lot of family members aren't able to come to the hospital. Which is terrible. Especially if a patient has a diagnosis that is a grave diagnosis and they may not make it. It's the only way they can connect with a family member. In times like this, we realize what's most important and it's family and friends and taking care of our community."
