Acura unveiled its fully restored 1997 SLX last Saturday at the RADwood Car Show in Orange County, California.
The vehicle's exterior possesses a '90s' look but this 1997 Acura SLX was built specifically for RADwood and has a drivetrain and suspension from a third-generation Acura RDX with the manufacturer's super-handling all-wheel drive (SH-AWD) system including a 350-horsepower, race-tuned 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. Minimal modifications were done on the exterior such as replacing the original two-tone paint scheme with Performance Red Pearl and Champagne-Silver and swapping the wheels with 17-inch Fifteen52 Tarmac wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolander A/T tires.
"Acura is an '80s kid, so RADwood is a perfect event for us to display our heritage," Acura Vice President and Brand Officer Jon Ikeda said in a press release. "Nostalgia for '80s and '90s vehicles has grown tremendously, and we're seeing them start to become really collectable. RADwood is always packed with a lot of fun and interesting stuff, so we knew we would have to bring something a little crazy to the table."
