Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates 2020 Jeep Renegade as Top Safety Pick

The 2020 Jeep Renegade recently earned the Top Safety Pick in the Small SUV category from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Tested for two aspects of safety-crashworthiness and crash-avoidance mitigation, the recognition applies only to vehicles with optional front-crash prevention and specific headlights built after September 2019. Meeting the requirements for forward-collision warning and being able to demonstrate in the 12 mph and 25 mph IIHS tests that the vehicle avoided a collision, the 2020 Renegade’s optional Full-Speed Forward-Collision Warning Plus system earned the highest possible rating in front crash prevention.

Contributing to earning the 2019 Top Safety Pick is the 2020 Renegade’s available LED projector headlamps with optional automatic high-beam control that allows, depending on the traffic condition, switching off headlamp modes between high- and low-beam function even without the driver controlling it.

"The Jeep stable of SUVs continues to be recognized for superior on- and off-road performance and the addition of many available advanced technology, safety and security features," FCA North America Head of Jeep Brand Jim Morrison said in a press release. "With more than 70 advanced safety and security features paired with benchmark 4 x 4 systems, Jeep Renegade provides drivers with the confidence to handle any adventure, in any weather condition."
