2019 Hyundai NEXO earned Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ award

The 2019 Hyundai NEXO hydrogen fuel cell electric SUV earned a Top Safety Pick+ award for vehicles built after June 2019 after Hyundai nominated it for early testing with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a first for the institute.

The midsize premium SUV has received good ratings in the following crashworthiness tests: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint.

"Hyundai and its engineering team continue to make vehicles even safer with the addition of active standard safety features, prioritizing cutting-edge safety and convenience at the forefront of the driving experience," said Scott Margason, director of Product Planning at Hyundai Motor America. "Our NEXO further emphasizes this priority on safety, with generous driver-assistance technologies and excellent passenger protection in a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle."

The 2019 Hyundai NEXO hydrogen fuel cell electric SUV, which is only available in California, also comes with standard high-beam assist, which can automatically shift between high beams and low beams, depending on the presence of other vehicles.
