Cox Automotive, together with the National Association of Minority Automotive Dealers, presented its Rising Star Award to a Michigan dealership general manager at NAMAD’s annual meeting awards dinner in Miami on July 11.

Now in its fourth year, the 2019 Rising Star Award was given to Eddie Hall III, general manager at the Hall Automotive Group in Royal Oak.

Hall had demonstrated a substantial commitment and contribution to the automotive industry, the announcement said.

Jessica Barbier, industrial relations manager with Cox Automotive, told Mega Dealer News that “the nomination process was open for three months and was communicated with the NAMAD NextGen group, state associations and on our website.”

Barbier hailed Hall, a University of Michigan graduate who began working with the Hall Automotive Group in 2010, as a leader in his industry and the community his business serves.

“It is important for Cox Automotive to highlight people like Eddie, who represent our next generation of leaders — both in the automotive space and in the communities in which they serve,” Barbier said.

Hall worked various positions in finance and sales management before transitioning to his current role, the announcement said.

He is also a minority representative on the Ford National Dealer Council, member on the Ford Minority Dealer Association Board, secretary of the NAMAD NextGen Board, and a founding member and chairman of the NADA NextGen 20 Group.

“Not only does Eddie exemplify the words ‘Rising Star,’ he also exemplifies a core value of Cox and the Cox family — community service,” Keisha Duck, Cox Automotive vice president of talent, learning and culture, said. “He dedicates countless hours to volunteering and supporting local high school youth with outreach programs at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. At Cox Automotive, diversity and inclusion is one of our core values. We’re excited to award this outstanding leader’s advancements in the automotive industry and contribution to his local community.”

Hall said it was an honor to be selected as the 2019 Rising Star recipient.

“It is a proud accomplishment to be recognized in such a challenging and competitive industry,” he said. “Being able to follow in my father's footsteps and help lead the company is a dream come true.”
