New Audi facility opens in Mechanicsburg

Sun Motor Cars-owned Audi Mechanicsburg opened a new facility in Central Pennsylvania on June 24, a year after its construction, and the grand opening was this month.

The dealership moved from 356 Woods Drive in Mechanicsburg, which it shared with Sun Motors’ former Porsche dealership, to a stand-alone facility at 6671 Carlisle Pike in Silver Spring Township.

“Now we have much better frontage for visibility of the customers,” general manager Richard Sajac told Mega Dealer News.

Sajac added that the new 44,000-square foot building is “almost double the capacity of our old Audi building.” He said that the service side “has jumped from nine to 17 bays” and the facility boasts a larger showroom.

Every 10 years, facilities have to be renovated and modified, Sajac said, and an increase in new car sales prompted the dealership to seek a new home.

“Because we had exceeded 300,000 new cars per year, Audi then required a stand-alone facility,” he said. “Our old Audi building was turning 10 years old, but because of our sales line, it required us to secure a stand-alone facility,” which Audi Mechanicsburg considered a good problem to have.

“The growth value for us has been pretty phenomenal,” Sajac said. “We hope the new facility will allow us to even service the clients’ needs at a more grandiose scale.”

The grand opening celebration took place Sept 12.

“A lot of our client base goes on vacation over the summer so [we waited] until they get back so they can experience the new building,” Sajac said.

Although Sajac does not know the exact number of customers to come through the new facility’s doors in its inaugural week he expects sales figures to double those posted down the road.
