The 22nd annual Sheehy 8000 Sales Event is off to a solid start, and Paul Sheehy could not be happier.
Sheehy, owner and used sales director for Sheehy Auto Stores, said that the community-wide effort that began on May 10 “has grown over the years” with funds raised benefiting the American Heart Association.
“In 50 days, our goal is to sell 8,000 vehicles, which is a hefty goal,” Sheehy told Mega Dealer News.
He said the company had sold approximately 3,200 vehicles just as the fundraiser is about to end its first month. The last day of the sale is Friday, July 5.
“We’re tracking,” said Sheehy. “We’re on pace.”
Each of the 22 Sheehy dealerships across Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; and Baltimore, Maryland are actively participating in the Sheehy 8000. Customers at any dealership can learn about healthy cooking, have their blood pressure screened, or watch fitness demonstrations.
Sheehy said that the Sheehy Toyota of Fredericksburg location tends to contribute the most since “it's one of our larger volume ones.” Other high contributors include Sheehy Ford Lincoln of Gaithersburg, Sheehy Ford Lincoln of Richmond, and Sheehy Nissan of Manassas.
“Here's the beauty of it: We need them all to hit their number,” said Sheehy. “They all have a number that we need them to hit for the entire team to hit the 8,000. That's how we look at it.”
This year marks the sixth year of the partnership between Sheehy Auto Stores and the AHA. According to a press release issued by the company, last year’s event raised $300,000 for the charity.
“We just think it’s very important… Heart health is very important,” said Sheehy, who has been involved with the fundraiser since its inception. “We just think it’s a great initiative for all of our 2,200 team members to get behind.”
Calling the Sheehy 8000 “a big event,” Sheehy said it was important that the company gives back to the community.
